Republicants And ATF

There’s some Republicants in D.C. upset over the ATF and their national gun registry.

The letter, addressed to Deputy Director Robert Cekada and signed by Rep. Cloud and 27 other lawmakers, explained how lawmakers had been waiting a long time for answers and were running out of patience.

The one thing never mentioned in the above piece, is that this is all so very simple to fix. President Trump gets a pen, paper and phone and orders the destruction of the ATF’s national gun registry. It’s all perfectly legal for him to issue an executive order here, since after all, the ATF by law, is not allowed to have a national gun registry. So the President, whether it’s Trump, or any past or future one is perfectly within his rights, as he’s enforcing the will of Congress, per FOPA. Very simple.

So why aren’t Republicants and the professional 2A class calling for Trump to enforce FOPA and destroy the ATF’s national gun registry? Because they are not pro 2A and want the government to have control.

All this brings us back to Cekada and professional 2A. Codrea just wrote a piece about Cekada’s hearing.

“In his role as Deputy Director, we have worked closely with Robert Cekada to ensure law-abiding gun owners have a seat at the table in shaping policy,” the American Suppressor Association weighed in. “If confirmed, he would be the first ever truly pro-Second Amendment nominee to head the agency.”

It’s worth pointing out that ASA’s boss is Knox Williams, who’s also on the board of the NRA.

Obviously the ATF’s not going anywhere anytime soon. But that doesn’t mean we should accept this blatant theater from “pro 2A” politicians and the national 2A groups.

Call them out. Withhold donations. Withhold your votes.
