This is a heads up from MN Gun Owners Caucus.
The city of Edina, wants a government monopoly on violence. I don’t see the point in getting bogged down in the minutia of their proposed ordinance. The source of the screen shots can be found here.
What the council seems to not have taken into account is that some Citizens will refuse to comply with their commands to disarm. What then? Yes, what then?
The council I hope is merely unaware and not deliberately ignoring the Second Amendment. However something that may ring a bell for them is the state preemption law. At their last council meeting they were eager beavers, to ignore preemption and just “do something”. But what happens when they get sued? Will they be such eager beavers then? What happens when Citizens of Edina start complaining about the waste of time and tax dollars the city’s spending? And, this was raised at their last council meeting, the legal jeopardy they’ll be putting police in. Now, how about all the potentially violent confrontations they’ll be ordering the police to partake in to enforce this ordinance? Remember some Citizens will not disarm. Will the police be every bit the eager beavers that the council is? I doubt it. Has the council considered what would happen if both the Citizenry and the police refused to comply?
The council is concerned about crime? Things like gun violence which they cite is a physical impossibility, remember guns are inanimate objects. And it’s absurd to conflate gun safety with arms confiscation.
The council may not like the arms which some Citizens of Edina and others in Minnesota, and across the country choose to keep and bear, however they have no legal or moral authority to enact such ordinances which infringe upon the right of the people, to keep and bear Arms. As such a right, shall not be infringed.
If the council should read this, I urge them to vote ‘no’.

Equip, train, pray and never disarm.
