Taxes On 2A Are An Infringement

“This is not an argument against taxation. It is an argument against discriminatory taxation aimed at chilling the exercise of a specific constitutional right.”

As usual the professionals get it wrong. All taxes on 2A are an infringement. Even the much beloved Pittman-Robertson. Why? Because taxes on 2A make it harder for we the people to exercise our 2A rights. $5, $10, $25, here, and there may not seem like much, especially in the modern era of hyper inflation, but it adds up. How much is a tax on a $1000 gun? Well over $100, between any local, and then state and fed taxes. How much ammo didn’t you buy for that new gun because of the tax? How many fewer or shorter range trips due to taxes on ammo and gear?

Hunter’s like Pittman-Robertson and similar conservation taxes. They say conservation of our natural resources is important. And indeed it is. However the Second Amendment is about a different kind of conservation program…

Militia.

Equip, train, pray and never disarm.

Update,

Larry Keane of the NSSF took exception to what I wrote. Clearly he’s the one who “can’t address the merits of the argument”.
