Who owns Sig? That’s not easy to find out. First, one must ask, ‘which Sig are we talking about?’, as there are two Sigs or three…

Sig Sauer Inc, is the one in New Hampshire. And there’s SIG Sauer GmbH & Co. KG, which may or may not be in Germany. It’s complicated. It seems a firm called L&O Holdings owns everything Sig, https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/firearm-fact-sig-sauer-actually-split-between-two-companies-119346 however there seems to be a third Sig, In late 2019, Swiss Arms was renamed SIG Sauer AG https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIG_Sauer

Since L&O isn’t a public company, and therefore can keep things private, which, publicly traded firms would have to disclose, that’s probably helped them, as they have an ugly history, at least in terms of Sig, and arms smuggling. Sig, Ron Cohen oversaw Sig “winning” the US military service pistol contract. Since then, how many more US military contracts? Infantry rifle, machine guns, sniper/DMR, proprietary cartridges… Cynical me, thinks Cohen got off easy because he was important to Uncle Sam.
