Who owns Sig? That’s not easy to find out. First, one must ask, ‘which Sig are we talking about?’, as there are two Sigs or three…
Sig Sauer Inc, is the one in New Hampshire. And there’s SIG Sauer GmbH & Co. KG, which may or may not be in Germany. It’s complicated. It seems a firm called L&O Holdings owns everything Sig, https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/firearm-fact-sig-sauer-actually-split-between-two-companies-119346 however there seems to be a third Sig, In late 2019, Swiss Arms was renamed SIG Sauer AG https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIG_Sauer
L&O Holdings is not a publicly traded firm, and is based in Germany, https://thegunzone.com/who-owns-sig-firearms/
This says L&O in 2023, https://www.northdata.com/L%20%26%20O%20Holding%20GmbH%20%26%20Co%C2%B7%20KG,%20Emsdetten/Amtsgericht%20Steinfurt%20HRA%205671 But makes no mention of Sig.
L&O Holding owns and operates numerous business units in the defense and hunting market including SIG SAUER, GmbH (Germany), SIG SAUER, Inc. (U.S.A.), and German Sports Group, GmbH (GSG), among others. From, https://soldiersystems.net/2020/06/05/sig-sauer-closes-operations-in-germany-continues-business-as-usual/
Then this, https://thegunzone.com/is-sig-sauer-a-private-company/
I can’t find a website for L&O Holdings. But L&O also owns… Blaser, Mauser, and Rigby,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rigby_%26_Company
Since L&O isn’t a public company, and therefore can keep things private, which, publicly traded firms would have to disclose, that’s probably helped them, as they have an ugly history, at least in terms of Sig, and arms smuggling. Interesting how the man who runs the Sig in New Hampshire, got a suspended sentence and a fine, by the German courts, for smuggling 38,000 pistols to Columbia, https://www.nhpr.org/nh-news/2019-04-03/sig-sauer-ceo-avoids-jail-time-for-role-in-illegal-arms-shipment The timing is SIGnificant, as in 2017, CEO of N.H. Sig, Ron Cohen oversaw Sig “winning” the US military service pistol contract. Since then, how many more US military contracts? Infantry rifle, machine guns, sniper/DMR, proprietary cartridges… Cynical me, thinks Cohen got off easy because he was important to Uncle Sam.
And, how can we mention Sig, without mentioning the Sig P320 debacle, and how they suffer from un-commanded discharges, and how Sig has lots of legal immunity in the state of New Hampshire, https://www.wmtw.com/article/new-hampshire-gun-maker-sig-sauer-protection-lawmakers/65123752
To answer the first question, “Who owns Sig?”, the simple answer is L&O Holdings, a German firm. But who is L&O Holdings?

Michael Luke and Thomas Ortmeier.
