Yes, it’s movie time again. ‘The Siege’ (1998), which stars Denzel Washington as a FBI agent (I know fed, but bear with me), he and Annette Benning try to stop Islamic terrorists running wild in New York City, using more or less, traditional investigative methods.
And Denzel Washington has to go toe to toe with a terrifying Bruce Willis, who, is a political general, in the vein of Colin Powell, a civilian advisor to the president, yet, still retains his military rank. It’s Bruce Willis’s finest role. Bruce Willis, wearing his general’s hat and uniform, takes over New York City, with the United States Army at his command… And declares martial law.
Trailer,
Unsurprisingly three years after it’s release the film was cancelled, after 9/11, no doubt because it asked questions about how far is too far, and would make too many people question Bush Jr’s ‘Patriot Act’, and ask uncomfortable questions about why we needed to lose our liberties, in order to be “safe”, and why we needed to blow up stone age goat herders in Afghanistan because Saudi’s perpetrated 9-11 with box cutters, and why we needed to blow up Iraq for the second time, because, well, WMD’s and democracy…
Those of you cheering on Trump’s militarized national police raids against illegal aliens, and using the military against rioters… Ask yourselves, what happens when the political winds change, and when you, the American Militia become their target…
Don’t be a “political pragmatist“… AKA fudd.
Bruce Willis, gives the most terrifying warning in film history,
Bruce Willis declares “martial law”,
Bruce Willis displays the true nature of man… Beware of spoilers,
