Where did Remington go? Supposedly they’re making guns in a factory in Georgia. It’s been about three years since I saw a new one, and that was from Ilion, not Georgia. It was an 870, 20ga with extremely ugly matte bluing and wood stock.
He writes about a Targetmaster, here.
It looks like a fun gun. But it’s not for me. With my vision issues, I need a scope and you can’t put one on those. I’d like a .22LR bolt action, real blued, NOT matte, with a decent walnut stock. No sights, I’d put a scope on it. Magazine? If it were a single shot like the Targetmaster, that’d be fine. 22″ or 24″, medium or heavy barrel. Decent trigger. Ideally the bolt handle locks, with a three position safety like a Weatherby Vanguard.
The Tikka T1X is a very nice rifle. But, the magazines break. After just two or three trips out shooting, the follower loses all tension and the magazine is broken. There seems to way to fix it. With Tikka’s owner Beretta charging $35 for a ten shot, detachable magazine, that breaks after just two or three shooting trips, and three broken magazines now in my basement, the rifle’s useless to me. I’m going to sell it one of these days. If it weren’t for the garbage magazines, I’d be completely happy with it. So, if Remington were to start making a man sized .22lr bolt action, I’d be in the market.
Equip, train, pray and never disarm.
