Today, I found here, https://waronguns.com/r-e-s-p-e-c-t-find-out-what-it-means-to-me-4/ a video from Mark Smith. I don’t watch him very often, though after this, that’ll probably change.
I’d been thinking about the video all day, and something occurred to me… Federal funding! Grants! Congress loves to doll out money all over the country, and usually for for no good reason. Think of your local infrastructure projects for instance, most likely a portion of that money came from the Feds. Schools, of course get Federal money. Biden’s car charging stations… How many WEREN’T ever built? But that was still Federal money.
In my area, a couple years back the local park district, put up bike trails, all over. Across city lines, across county lines even. All connected. They built bridges over highways, and swamps, all over the metro area. Guess what one source of funding was? Federal grants.
So GOP, the party of “faith, family and freedom”, are you listening? /sarc. The next time a funding bill works its way through congress, to go to state, or local entities, put an amendment in there that says something specific. No, we can’t say, “None of these funds shall go to states or local entities who violate the Second Amendment.” We’ve got to be more specific. Remember, even the “conservative” Supreme Court’s confused on what “Shall not be infringed” means. We don’t want a anti gun state to challenge this in court and win. So be SPECIFIC!
Instead put in the bill, something along the lines of, “None of these funds shall be granted to state or local governments…” and here’s where they should get specific, like, “A state or entity in a state which has a roster of pistols it deems legal for citizens to buy.” (California).
Or, fill in the second half with, “A state or entity in a state which requires a firearm owners license card.” (Illinois).
Or, “Any state of entity in a state that requires social media account information, information on relatives, or character references, in order for a resident to apply for a concealed carry permit.” (New York).
Now, add in stuff like assault weapons bans- like pistol grip bans, flash hider bans, adjustable stock bans, magazine capacity limits, etc. Anything that can be short and sweet, and unequivocal.
Just think how fast you’d get the above states to buckle, along with states like Washington, Oregon, and Colorado, and many others, if suddenly those state legislatures were forced to raise state taxes by 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% plus percent to cover what they no longer received from Congress?
Would they challenge it in court? Of course. But if the GOP put it in specific, and plain English, then that’s a great way to start making the anti gunners pay, literally and figuratively as it would be VERY VERY hard, for the anti gunners to challenge that and win. Unless of course the GOP buckles, which they always do.
But that’s my idea. What’s yours?
