Here we go again. GOA’s doing a fundraising drive, to “tear down the NFA”. Now, on the surface, no issues. However, they want to sue, taking it to the Supreme Court. This is extremely dangerous. The Supreme Court hasn’t been willing to take up 2A cases much the past few years, and when it has, it’s often ruled the WRONG way. Remember the so called “Ghost Gun” ruling? There’s been some good, like when they threw out the Mexican lawsuit against S&W and a few other gun manufacturers, but in general, bad.
What’s GOA hope to do with this? If the Supreme Court takes up the case and rules the WRONG way, the 2A movement will have been set back a century, or more. Since everyone focuses on “precedent” as opposed to the ORIGINAL meaning of the Second Amendment, and others amendments and laws at the time of their writing, what kind of “precedent” would it set if the Supreme Court rules “NFA is Constitutional”?
Now I’m not against taking the NFA to the Supreme Court, entirely, I’m only against doing it now, given the current make up of the court and their combination of indifference and out right hostility towards the Second Amendment. Right now, there’s only two good originalists on the court, Thomas and Alito. The rest of the “conservatives” are very liberal at best. And of course the “liberal” justices are out right brainwashed commies- Don’t forget one DEI hire, doesn’t even know what a woman is…
This is an extremely dangerous thing GOA’s doing right now. How much of this money could be used instead, on other issues, which the 2A movement has a fair chance or better at winning? State issues and state and local lobbying. At the federal level pressuring Trump and the DoJ to torch the ATF’s national gun registry, investigate and bring charges to those suspected in the murder of Brian Malinowski, and pardoning Tate Adamiak, now those three things GOA should be hammering Trump on. GOA should as well be preparing for the ’26 mid terms, as obviously the current slate of GOP in Congress are weak kneed “butters”.
