Do Indians Own The Air?

Do Indians own the air? Sounds funny doesn’t it? But in northern Minnesota, the Red Lake Indian Reservation’s Tribal Council thinks it does…

Moments after the landing, tribal police impounded his plane, claiming he had violated Red Lake’s 1978 air ban — a resolution prohibiting any aircraft from flying over tribal land at altitudes below 20,000 feet.

Given the election results, what happens now? Say you’re going hunting, and book a flight. You’ve brought your rifle or shotgun along. You’ve followed all the “rules” set forth by the FAA and the airline. Followed local, state and federal “law”. You’ve made sure you’ll be in compliance with the “law” at your destination. So what happens if a governor, say one in Virginia, or a mayor like the guy in New York City, decrees that that guns cannot be transported by air over their state or city?

Sounds crazy doesn’t it? But the Red Lake Indians banned all air traffic below 20,000 feet. So why wouldn’t a good tyrant ban the transport of guns over their realm?

And don’t tell me some staffer for some city mayor or governor, somewhere hasn’t seen this story and hasn’t suggested to his boss to do something similar. Remember, the Red Lake Indians set the precedent.

Equip, train, pray and never disarm.
