Ben Stoeger says there’s pragmatists and ideologues, on the Glock issue of lobbying for 2A infringement, https://2awhiterook.com/glock-is-anti-2a/. He says, there’s gun “laws” everywhere, and we can be pragmatic about it, and realize that’s the way things are. He mentions how in his home state one can carry a gun without a permit. In the end he seems to be apologizing for Glock’s anti 2A lobbying.
I disagree with this “pragmatic” approach. I’ve been against prags, and have written numerous times about prag stances and the dangers of those stances. In this case, we should all be holding Glock accountable, blasting them with posts on X and where ever else they are on un-social media and go on a Glock boycott.
Why? Because if we don’t, and Glock’s allowed to get away with this, without feeling any financial pain, there will be others. Stoeger jokes about Bill Ruger’s stance way back when, well that hurt Ruger, and Sturm, Ruger & Co. changed directions after his death, when they got new leadership. Stoeger doesn’t seem to remember this isn’t Glock’s first anti 2A lobbying move, https://2awhiterook.com/glock-catalog-update-nssf-leadership-interesting-people/ back during the Clinton administration they, along with many other big names,
“We believe devices which enhance safe storage can be useful in continuing to reduce child accidents. Within the coming year, most major handgun manufacturers will institute company policies of providing safety devices with all handguns shipped in the United States.”
The above is what Glock and others signed on to.
Then there was the recent gutting of their “commercial” (Militia) catalog and shifting most of those models to their “LE” (the only ones) catalog, https://2awhiterook.com/glocks-commercial-vs-le-catalog/
And, there’s the California issue, Sam Paredes representing Gun Owners Of California, and the California Rifle And Pistol Association showed up to testify, but no representative from Glock? https://waronguns.com/glockteasers/
While Stoeger argues the prag approach, I disagree completely. We must call out and fight the 2A betrayers where ever they are. Will we always win? Of course not. But we must make our voices heard, or we’ll lose every time. Perhaps, much like the triggered reload https://2awhiterook.com/how-i-triggered-the-reload/ among others, it boils down to a philosophical difference,
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
There’s no gray in those words, it’s all black and white. Now while all arms laws are an infringement upon the Second Amendment, and while I personally submit to such tyranny, things like a permit to purchase, the 4473/NICS, etc, that doesn’t mean I should without speaking against these “laws”. It further doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t tell Glock, that they’re wrong, and boycott them. (I have told them multiple times on X they’re wrong).
Stoeger mentioned breaking such “laws”. I’m sure many decent people do break 2A infringing “laws”. Now, I’m not going to say you should, or shouldn’t, that’s a personal decision for each man to make after deep thought on the matter. But I will say, speak up! Make your voices heard, whether it’s 2A betraying companies like Glock or 2A betraying politicians. Speak up! Call them out. They’re all on X and other platforms, it’s extremely easy to call them out, and, unlike email, many other people will see your criticism of them.
And don’t limit it to the “antis”, call out the “pro 2A” side as well, when they falter and don’t push for pro 2A action (Trump-HPA&SHORT, 2A Task Force)…
So am I an “ideologue”, or just a believer in keeping people, organizations and companies honest on 2A issues?
Below are the Stoeger videos I’m referring to,
Equip, train, pray and never disarm.
