“I do not support the proposed change to include 36 CFR 327.13(c) giving the District Commander discretion to modify or revoke permissions granted by 36 CFR 327.13 when issuing a special event permit,” he explained. “People could find themselves afoul of the law, unbeknownst to them, by allowing their right to carry a firearm to be revoked or modified arbitrarily because of a special event.”
Why? I think there’s many reasons. The first, Trump’s just not big on the Second Amendment. If anyone shows signs of apathy regarding 2A, it’s Trump, unless it’s campaign season. To be fair, that goes for 99.9% of the GOP as well.
Another reason is the Second Amendment Task Force is missing in action, despite the assurances from the NSSF, https://2awhiterook.com/nssf-on-the-2a-task-force/

And why doesn’t this 2A Task Force, have any 2A group representatives on it? No one from NRA, SAF, GOA, NAGR, etc, etc. Why? If they’re all just government lawyers who work for Bondi, who in turn works directly for Trump, obviously none of them are going to write up a policy proposal that goes against the Trump admin’s- I was about to say policy, but then that begs the question, what is the Trump admin’s policy on the Second Amendment? We knew where Biden’s puppeteers stood on 2A, we knew what Harris would have done on 2A had she won, and we knew where Obama stood on 2A well before he ever won back in ’08. But Trump, and the GOP as a whole in 2025? Codrea calls the Trump admin’s 2A policy “bi-polar”, I’d say it extends to the entire GOP as well.
Another is 2A groups, where are they? They’re the ones who spent untold millions of dollars, in Trump election efforts, and now that Trump’s in for the second and last time, and we have a Republican controlled Senate and House, why aren’t they lobbying him to make good on his 2A promises? How often does one party control all of Washington D.C.?… This is a golden opportunity to advance our cause and the 2A groups are blowing it.
Remember HPA and SHORT? Where was Trump on that? And by extension the entire GOP? The Republican Senate Majority Leader Thune and VP Vance, bent the knee to some old Harry Reid (D) hire of a Senate Parliamentarian- strictly an advisory position, and whom serves at the pleasure of the Senate Majority Leader. And they blew it, HPA got watered down to meaningless nothing. And SHORT was thrown out with the bath water.
We can’t rely on Trump, the GOP, or 2A groups. If you support the Second Amendment, you must make your voice heard. Get on un-social media, pound them with posts about what you want to see done, and not just national level stuff, your state, and perhaps county and city as well if that’s an issue in your locality. Un-social media, is tough for politicians to ignore, as it’s seen publicly unlike email. It will be seen by other 2A supporters, and re-posted, and “liked”. That’s all good for us.
Self government means just that, do it yourself. Don’t sit there and bellyache at your t.v. or computer screen or to your shooting pals or the guy at the gun store. Make the politicians know where you stand.
