Update to this, https://2awhiterook.com/what-do-mr-stoner-and-mr-glock-have-in-common/, In today’s mail, 7-3-25, came my, MINNESOTA STATE PERMIT TO ACQUIRE HANDGUNS FROM FEDERAL FIREARMS DEALERS.
I went to the police station and filled out the “mother may I”, form on 6-11-25, and the clerk said it’d be mailed to me in ten to thirty days, (It was 10 business days the last few years, and less before that). This permit expires 6-25-26, signed by the police chief himself. And the envelope was electronically stamped 6-30-25, and post marked 7-1-25, and comes in today’s (7-3-25) mail.
Now what they don’t tell you is you MUST have this permission slip in order to buy a varmint bullet spewing, gas operated,air cooled, detachable box magazine fed, shoulder fired weapon as well, so here in Minnesota, Mr. Glock and Mr. Stoner have something in common. I found that AR15 part out the hard way once upon a time. Without this “mother may I” card, I’d have been a felon and gone to prison, and the gun dealer would’ve lost his FFL and gone to prison with me, had he sold that AR15 to me. I uttered plenty of French on the drive home to dig my permit to purchase a PISTOL out of my desk drawer to buy a RIFLE.
Even the fine print says, This permit must be presented by the permittee with other qualifying Minnesota identification before the sale of the pistol may be completed.
Notice the use of “pistol”, not “pistol and those damned dirty, scary, black, fully semi automatic assault weapons”.
Do we still live in a constitutional republic? No, that died long ago.
