They did it for the California EV mandate, which the parliamentarian also said is outside the bounds. The vote was 51 – 44. They didn’t do it by 2/3 of the senate. So that excuse is clearly a lie.
So Senate Majority Leader Thune, (R), can go against the parliamentarian’s recommendation on a EV mandate, but not on somethings that are so simple and fundamental as to be spelled out in the Second Amendment? Thune’s a liar, that’s the most PG thing I can say about him.
