“High Volume”…

I’m jealous… Ben Stoeger’s shooting 2,000 rounds a day… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnzhMa1ZAUc

When it comes to banged up hands, I’d get bloody finders back when I shot my lever action .22LR’s alot. As a kid, and teen, after a few hours at the range with Dad, and the Henry lever actions, my fingers would be bloody from working the lever hundreds or maybe a thousand or more times. Those bricks of .22LR’s disappeared fast.

Later when I “grew up”, and got hooked on Uberti made Winchester ’73 clones, same thing, bloody fingers from working the lever.

I started shooting baseballs with the lever guns, I’d toss them a six or ten paces out, and shoot them across the ground. The berms at the range we used to shoot at were nice, toss the ball at the base of the berm, and shoot it up and down the berm, over and over, providing we had the rifle range to ourselves.

I still shoot baseballs, though not as much, it’s tougher to shoot them now when they’re on the move, and over uneven grassy ground of the state forest, and especially given that I now need a scope on my long guns, no more iron sights. When I’m better at shooting paper with my new Glock 34, I’ll start working on shooting baseballs with it. I used to be able to shoot baseballs pretty good with my Glock 17, before the eye problems.

People saying Ben Stoeger doesn’t shoot 2,000 rounds a day, I believe him. Shooting’s his job, not just his passion. Or maybe a passion he gets paid for?… Still fun!

I can easily burn though 2,000 rounds in a day, between 5.56mm and .22LR, and now 9mm again – thank God I can shoot a pistol again. But, that’s A day… As in a Saturday or Sunday, not EVERYDAY or close to it. Just last week I shot a case, a real case, 1,000 rounds through the G34 alone.

Stoeger doesn’t like gloves. I found that interesting. I always shoot with gloves, either because it’s frozen here in the great white north, and triggers, especially AR15 triggers being metal get COLD!, as do aluminum hand guards and vertical grips. Or in the summer, everything gets HOT and stays HOT, so Mechanix gloves come in handy in the summer, and winter light/mid weight insulated leather gloves. Also, between being prone to sun burn very easily, and ticks and skeeters, keeping hands covered is nice. There’s two beaver ponds, one’s 50 yards from where I shoot, the other’s 150 yards away… SKEETERS. I’ve never known it to be an impediment, but, Ben Stoeger’s in a whole different league than me.

When shooting I’m able to Make The World Go Away… Yeah, my favorite song, by Eddy Arnold. Oh sure dozens have recorded it, even Elvis- yikes, a rare fumble for Elvis, like nails on a chalk board. But Eddy Arnold’s ‘Make The World Go Away’… From 1965, is the best song ever… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lq0Ri9e6SY0
