Regarding my earlier post, https://2awhiterook.com/is-the-nra-rico-lawsuit-the-wrong-way-to-go/ I got one response, sort of, which begs more questions then it answers.
We never got around to whether or not I could name this individual or not, so I won’t name the person. But the individual said, and I’m paraphrasing, the person will not get into talking about the RICO lawsuit, and that the individual is too busy trying to get NRA ILA working on getting an SBR bill and the HPA passed.
That’s good, don’t get me wrong. Short barreled rifles and gun mufflers should be deregulated. All arms laws are a 2A infringement.
Yet, how can NRA conduct lobbying at the moment? It’s not just Dell’Aquila’s RICO lawsuit that’s looming, but also, NRA themselves is suing Ackerman McQueen for the umpteenth time, and Under Wild Skies for the, third or fourth time. Does it have the money to do actual lobbying, while it’s paying all these legal bills? From the loose figures various blogs have put together, it doesn’t appear to me the NRA can afford to lobby and pay the lawyers.
It appears the NRA’s moving in dozens of different directions all at once. Does it have the funds? Does it have a strategy? Is anyone actually in charge? I know, the NRA convention happened just recently, new president, and all that, but, I don’t see CEO Hamlin taking charge. I don’t see the new president taking charge. Maybe I’ve missed something, but I don’t think so.
As much as I want to see SBR’s and gun mufflers deregulated, and to see every other law and regulation which infringes on the Second Amendment ripped to shreds, I don’t see any evidence the NRA can handle both it’s internal problems, and lobby at the same time. It appears to me, the NRA must pick, one or the other, but not both.
If I get any more responses, I’ll publish them, or, at least as much as I can.
