Today Gun Owners Of America, sent me an email, which said in part,
“I need you to take action and pick up your phone to defend our God given Second Amendment rights. The Hearing Protection Act and the Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today (SHORT) Act, are stalled in the House Ways and Means Committee and we need your help to move these bills. R. 404—The Hearing Protection Act, introduced by Rep. Ben Cline, would remove suppressors from the National Firearms Act of 1934 (“NFA”), stripping away all regulation and eliminating the $200 tax stamp.R. 2395—The SHORT Act, introduced by Rep. Andrew Clyde, would prevent any future attempt to reintroduce the Biden administration’s unconstitutional pistol brace ban. The NFA was the actual law that the Biden Administration used to justify the pistol brace ban. You helped deliver a mandate to President Trump last November and now we need the House Ways and Means Committee to help President Trump deliver on his campaign promise to restore the Second Amendment. Here is what we need you to do TODAY: Pick up the phone and call the House Ways and Means Committee at (202) 225-3625 and direct your message to the majority.”
What did, the country, and in large part gun owners do in November of 2024? We gave the Republicans the White House, the Senate, and the House. And now TWO PRO GUN bills are STALLED in the House Ways and Means Committee?
Who’s Speaker of the House? Mike Johnson… REPUBLICAN. All he’d have to do is make one phone call. And both bills would be out of the committee. But why isn’t he? We were told Mike Johnson was a staunch conservative. I thought “conservatives” were supporters of the Constitution, and adamantly supported an armed citizenry, the militia?
And what about President Trump? He himself, 2A groups, talking heads, all have told he’s the most pro gun president in history… Why isn’t he making a phone call to Mike Johnson? And if a phone call didn’t work, go on t.v. and publicly scold the Republicans in the House. A public statement from President Trump would get the two stalled pro gun bills out of committee, by the very next afternoon.
Now going back to a post I wrote recently about how to get gun owners to vote, well this is the the perfect way to get gun owners not to vote. Show gun owners, all across the nation that when they vote solid Republican, giving them full control of the of Washington D.C., that Republicans fold on pro gun bills, leaving them to stall in committee.
Tell me, how do you get non voting gun owners, to vote, when this is what they see of the party of “faith, family and freedom”? And on the flip side, people who bought guns for the first time, in the last decade or so, due to woke prosecutors letting criminals run wild, or the Scamdemic tyranny, and all the BLM riots, who don’t vote period, or vote Democrat? When they see Republicans, the “pro gun party”, leaving pro gun bills to rot, how do you get them to vote Republican?
Unless the Republican Party gets its act together soon, there will be little or nothing we politically active gun owners and 2A groups can do, before the mid terms, to get gun owners who don’t vote, or vote the wrong way, to vote Republican.
