Don’t get excited over any national carry bill with this Congress. At Bearing Arms they’re talking about Massie’s National Constitutional Carry Act, here.
Massie’s bill would no doubt be a major improvement on things, especially for people who live in occupied territory, such as Woodchuck (Tampon Tim) land.
However, what’s the odds of Massie’s bill passing? None. Remember this Congress couldn’t do something which is far less “controversial”, such as pass the original Hearing Protection Act and SHORT and remove suppressors & short barreled firearms from the NFA. Instead, they neutered HPA & SHORT down to just removing the “tax”, yet, still kept them listed on NFA and needing a “tax” stamp. And the “tax” was never the main problem. The main problem was the additional government list everyone was required to get put on to acquire that tax stamp.
And that brings up another issue. Though I don’t believe Massie’s bill will pass in any form, but say it did, how would this milquetoast Congress neuter it? And why wouldn’t they? They neutered HPA and SHORT.
The 2A movement must focus on the states. Avoid spending time and money on federal legislation, and avoid taking cases to the Supreme Court for now. The current Congress won’t do anything good, and the current Supreme Court is more likely to offer a bad ruling than a good ruling (Vanderstok, “ghost guns”). Spend time, money and resources on the states. Create a buffer against the coming Democrat land slide in the mid terms. Strengthen state 2A associations.
They say we’re a Republic, let’s use that to our advantage.
Equip, train, pray and never disarm.
