Regarding The Gunpowder Shortage

Regarding the gunpowder shortage we’re in, supposedly, remember AAC’s closing cause they can’t get enough powder?

I recently stumbled upon a S&W 586 6″ no dash. That means, no Hillary Hole, hammer mounted firing pin, real bluing, and real walnut grips. Naturally it came home with me.

Since .38spl isn’t very popular, the gun store only stocks Fed. American Eagle .38spl 158gr LRN. I bought some when I bought the 586. Earlier today, I was looking around online for a case of .38spl’s, hoping to find something different. I found lots. I even found wadcutters. I haven’t seen wadcutters since before the Scamdemic, and even then, the only ones I could find were from Fiocchi. It’s been awhile since I’ve shot a centerfire revolver, and remembering how hard it was to find wadcutters in the past, I didn’t bother looking. But Wideners had two kinds that I could see and I didn’t browse further after finding them. Both were 148gr. One was from Magtech, the other from Fiocchi. Magtech was cheaper, and looked to be a little lighter loaded so I ordered a case of them.

I bring this up because in a day and age when 9mm is the most popular pistol cartridge by far, and when ammo companies are closing because of a gunpowder shortage, supposedly, I can stumble upon two options for the now somewhat obscure .38spl wadcutter, without even looking for it.

Hopefully in a week or two I’ll be able to try out this 586. I know Magtech’s are cheap, dirty, lightly loaded, and foreign. But, with my vision issues, I’m not looking to rattle my brain lose with .357mags. I just want to kill paper. And maybe some logs. And a 6″ .357mag loaded with wadcutters is a great target gun. And yeah, Magtech’s Brazilian, but if American companies don’t make what one wants, and a foreign firm does, then why not buy it? And they’re import firm is in my state, and Federal, while made here, is owned by the Czechs.

Equip, train, pray and never disarm.
