GOA & HR 38

This week I got an email from GOA. They’re pushing HR 38, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.

First, isn’t all forms of carry, Constitutional? But I digress.

Why HR 38? 2A groups have very limited funds, and we saw just a short while ago, how the GOP completely ruined the Hearing Protection Act, and totally ignored SHORT. So why this, and why now? Did GOA forget the GOP does not have a super majority in the US Senate? Sixty votes would be needed to pass something like HR 38. The Dems will not vote for it period. And even if we had sixty Republicans, would all be sufficiently pro 2A enough to vote ‘yes’? Doubtful.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve made a list of seven easy things Trump could do, via executive action, to advance our cause. https://2awhiterook.com/trump-2a-bypassing-congress/

I’ve contacted every major 2A group on X, asking them to urge Trump to use executive action. None have even replied to me. Not GOA, not NRA, not FPC, not SAF, not NAGR. I’ve contacted Trump. Nothing. Is it because the idea of Trump using executive action was NOT INVENTED HERE? https://www.hypeinnovation.com/blog/what-is-not-invented-here-syndrome

The issue isn’t whether HR 38 is good or bad, the issue is money and timing. The anti’s got the money and the time. We don’t. And the GOP does NOT have a super majority in the US Senate, which is needed to pass something like HR 38. And with the way things are going, for a whole host of reasons I highly doubt the GOP will keep control of the US House and Senate after the mid terms. So for the moment, while we have a Republican president at least, why don’t we use the “influence” all these groups claim to have and urge him to use executive action?

Equip, train, pray and never disarm.
