“The Animating Contest For Freedom”

Someone sent me a very kind email today. In it was a quote, I’ll admit I’d never heard nor read before,

The above quote hit home so hard, I must’ve read it a dozen times. “The animating contest for freedom”, that is the issue at hand. I’m just a guy, with a clunky little blog who types his thoughts on 2A matters. Am I making a difference? I don’t know. But I’m trying. I’m trying to take an active part in “the animating contest for freedom”.

Reading websites, and blogs, watching gun tube, or whatever you do, is all pointless if in the end, all you do is bellyache about “those damned Democrats”, or “those stupid anti gunners”. Action, not bellyaching is what will change things.

Readers in the comment sections of various forums I visit, tell me to get involved in GOP primaries, move out of Minnesota, run for office, run for NRA’s Board of Directors, and a bunch of other stuff.

I’m not a leader. I’m not the kind of guy who can rub shoulders, make compromises and deals and bring various factions together at big conference halls. And I’m not the guy who can stand on the literal soap box and champion, “my guy” at some fair grounds. And I can’t move- plus, the Marxist virus is coming for red states too. It must be stomped out wherever it sprouts its evil head.

Now that’s a lot of “I can’t”s. But what can I do? I can think… To some degree. I can read. And I can type. Hence this blog. Why? I think God’s been nudging me in this direction for some time.

My goal here, is to get my three readers, (me, myself and I), to start thinking about what they can do, for “the animating contest for freedom”. Everyone’s skills are different. You’ve seen mine, such as they are. What’s yours? Don’t be content to just bellyache, instead do something. And by “do something”, I don’t mean the half-assed leftist version of “do something”, I mean give some serious thought, and come up with something potentially meaningful you can do, to help our cause.

Stand up and be counted. You’ve got one life to live. Make the most of it.
